Baikasai

Dude!  Did you know I went to Baikasai which is an awesome tea event (and flea market) put on at Kitano Tenmangu to commemorate Michizane Fujiwara, a patron of scholarship, by the geiko and maiko of Kamishichiken?

Pretty insane.











Their style is amazing, and not just the outfits. Look at this insane outdoor kettle set up. I want!

    Nice photos, and interesting setting for the kama. Geisha/maiko are a little alarmingly too ... well, too much of a bunch of things for me. Still, I'm curious - I imagine chanoyu is part of their formal training, but do they study a particular lineage?
